A USMCA certification of origin records an origin claim under the agreement. Annex 5-A lists minimum data elements; the agreement does not prescribe a single form. A general certificate of origin is a different document.
You determine whether each good qualifies and which criterion applies. Packlistly prints the information you enter. The fictional sample is not evidence that any product qualifies and must not be used to support an origin claim.
What to prepare
- Certifier role: exporter, producer or importer.
- Parties and contacts: certifier, exporter, producer and importer names, addresses, countries, phone numbers and email addresses; include tax IDs where applicable.
- Goods: descriptions and HS codes. The PDF shows the first six HS digits.
- Origin criterion: A, B, C or D for each line, selected and confirmed by you based on the applicable rules and supporting records.
- Signature: signer name, title and signature date.
- Blanket period, if used: the start and end dates for the period covered. Check the agreement and destination requirements.
Review before signing
- Check that descriptions and HS codes identify the goods and agree with the commercial records.
- Do not infer origin qualification from the country the goods were shipped from or from a fictional example.
- Review your evidence and the official origin rules with a qualified adviser when needed.
What Packlistly does
The USMCA document is available for orders with Canada or Mexico as destination. Complete the party details, confirm each line’s criterion and provide the signer information. Packlistly checks required entries and prints your declarations; it does not determine origin qualification, approve a tariff claim or file with a customs agency.
FAQ
- Does the sample prove that my goods qualify?
- No. The sample is fictional. You must determine origin qualification and retain the supporting records for your own goods.
- Is this the same as a general certificate of origin?
- No. A general certificate and a USMCA certification serve different purposes. A general certificate does not establish USMCA origin qualification.
